Road Warrior

This will be my last year playing a full season of football. Because of this, I have decided to take my talents to…Salt Lake City, UT!

Lebron

A little Lebron humor there. Seriously though, I want to have an adventure and decided what better way to end my career than to chase a championship and try to crack the code of being a super traveler?

To set the record straight, I am not moving to Utah. I have a job and family up here in Seattle. So I will be commuting to Utah as much as possible to play. It’s not ideal of course considering I’m a Capricorn and I hate being late to anything let alone having to miss things, but until they invent teleportation, I will just have to make it work.

Travel blogI have had several friends over the past few years who have commuted to teams successfully and part of me was a little jealous that they could have that adventure. Now I will be a road warrior. You know those travel blogs where people take selfies as they look off into the distance on a hilltop? That will be me with my football bag, gazing at the beautiful mountains in Utah.

I will still be working really hard behind the scenes as I always do. It will require a bit of self-study when I can’t get there and I’m actually kind of excited about that. I enjoy a challenge. I’m a student of the game and I’m always studying. It’s what I love about it. You can never fully master it. It doesn’t matter if you play or coach 100 years because the game is alive. It’s an entity that is always changing and like fashion, can be cyclical.

Why Utah? Well they have been really good for the last several years. I have played with aimagesnd against many of them for years. I know them. They know me. It’s a natural cultural fit. They believe in each other. They work hard. They are respectful but still have a little bit of a swagger. They almost knocked off a stacked Texas team in the championship last year. It just fits for me.

I will update periodically on how exactly I work out all the logistics and likely be posting many pictures of me at the airport waving from the tarmac.

I have many plans for after this season but I can’t wait until it starts. I have always loved a good adventure even as a child.
